OrktoberFest 2024

A long weekend of music, food and ale, Viking style!

The Orktoberfest programme includes: a local beer festival, traditional music sessions, a Viking feast, a fiery Viking procession and galley burning, live bands til late, and Viking games of strength and skill.

A big part of the weekend event is the torch procession - open to all. South Mainland Up Helly Aa Jarl squad and Stromness Pipe band will lead the parade through the streets of Stromness to the burn site at Ness. While the visiting SMUHA Squad will have their full Up Helly Aa torches, visitors and locals can participate by purchasing a hand-held candle torch for £10, with which to join in the parade and show their support for Clan.

Anyone under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult.
