Photo nightwalk with Urban Lens collective

Join Urban Lens collective for a photo night walk, part of the event programme for 'Walk this way' an exhibition of walking art works at Between People Gallery. Urban Lens is made up of three artists, Sacha Lehrfreund, Heather McDonough and Mara Bodis-Wallner. Their ongoing practice invites others to join them on nightwalks through the city streets, exploring urban sights through their camera lenses. Walking and photographing are often solo pursuits, combining the act of walking with the act of
looking and exploring place helps one to understand and navigate the world, photographs can aid
memory and help to create a sense of purpose and direction. Photography combined with walking can
lead to discovery and noticing details of the rhythmic cyclical changes in habitat, weather and season.
Photographing at night is unusual, but combined with walking offers discussion and debate, the
sharing of experiences and stories and allows individuals to understand more about why walking and
photographing can be vital for our wellbeing and survival in the large urban environment.

Bring something to take pictures with (phones are fine)

The photo night walk is part of a series of events accompanying 'Walk this Way' an exhibition of walking art works by Clare Qualmann at Between People Gallery, AVA building, at UEL's Docklands Campus (7th July - 18th July 2026). Attendees will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition during the event.

We will meet at the gallery from 5pm with an opportunity to see the exhibition before starting the walk at 5.30pm. We will return to the gallery around 7pm to share images from the walk, with light refreshments and a further opportunity to see the exhibition.
