What's on the horizon for coaches in
2026?
And reasons to be part of the Coaches Council
The coaching landscape continues to shift, and those of us committed to doing this work well need to pay attention to what's emerging. Drawing on recent research and sector insights, here are some of the pressures and opportunities we're likely to face...
- Staying current while staying grounded Coaches are being asked to continuously adapt their practice to meet evolving client needs and changing contexts. We don’t have to chase every new trend but we will want to be discerning about what genuinely serves the people we work with, whether that's new thinking tools, technologies, or approaches that deepen our effectiveness.
- The foundation of trust Building trust quickly and maintaining strong relationships remains at the heart of meaningful coaching. With things moving so fast, our ability to create the conditions for real connection, where clients feel safe enough to think for themselves, is more vital than ever.
- Managing expectations with honesty Navigating different personalities and managing client expectations well means being clear from the start. Setting genuine goals together, offering consistent feedback, and being honest about what coaching can and can't do protects both the client's investment and the integrity of our work.
- Standing out for the right reasons With AI-driven coaching tools entering the market, coaches need to be clear about what makes human-to-human coaching irreplaceable. This is about articulating the value of high-touch, thoughtful practice and building a reputation rooted in results and real relationships.
- Building sustainable practices Growing a coaching business that lasts means thinking strategically about how we work. Whether through considered use of social media, nurturing client referrals, or designing service packages that reflect our values, sustainability comes from doing fewer things well rather than spreading ourselves thin.
Rather than challenges, might we look at these as invitations to deepen our craft, sharpen our thinking, and remember why we became coaches in the first place?
We all need somewhere to continue to develop our coaching capacity and capability, through live practice, ongoing reflective dialogue with each other, being challenged in a safe space, and sharing successes and failures, so that we can learn from both.
The International Coaching Psychology Review, (Volume 12, No. 1, March 2017) identified key benefits for coaches who receive Coaching Supervision, including: increased self-awareness, greater confidence, increased objectivity, heightened sense of belonging, reduced feelings of isolation and increased resourcefulness.
These elements are essential for both personal and professional development. These attributes enhance a coaches ability to support their clients effectively. Peer supervision plays a crucial role in fostering these qualities.
We offer a structured yet flexible environment where coaches like us, and you, can grow through mutual support, feedback, and shared experiences. This collaborative approach will improve our individual competencies and strengthen the coaching community as a whole.
The details...
We meet online for Coaches Council on the second Friday of every other month, starting in September each year, and continuing through November, January, March, May, and July. These morning sessions follow the Thinking Environment way of being together and offer a rich space for peer supervision. We open the room from 9:10am for a 9.15am start, and finish at 10:30am.
We’re also offering a Monday evening slot for those who prefer to meet at the end of the day. These run from 6:30pm to 7:45pm, and while they don’t follow a neat calendar pattern (we’ve worked around bank holidays and school breaks), you’ll find all the dates listed clearly here on Ticket Tailor.
You're welcome to join either or both sessions. The format stays the same, but the energy of morning and evening can bring something different to your practice. These evening time slots make it possible for our community of coaches in different time zones to be involved too.
Who is this for?
You might be drawn to this because you already call yourself a Coach and you're offering coaching services to your clients.
You may also be working inside your organisation and coaching colleagues either formally, or informally.
Whether you have a recognised coaching qualification or not, are part of a professional coaching body or not, there is something to be gained from getting around a virtual table and exploring exactly how you are transforming the thinking of the people around you, through coaching. So you're very welcome.
Fees
Select the Pay As You Go option for £36.00 including VAT per session.
If you'd like to book 6 sessions or more, please send us a message and we'll be happy to discuss a cheeky little discount with you.

P.S. If you'd like some insight into the thinking and wisdom that emerges from the Council, you can read about one of the sessions here: https://www.clearthinkinguk.com/the-relationship-is-the-work-a-field-note-for-coaches/
