Late Georgian manor built on site of castle, with wooded walks and follies stretching down to the river Ure and views over Wensleydale.

Built in 1802, Grade II* with ornate cornicing and finely proportioned rooms, it boasts possibly the finest staircase of its date in the county. House contents include important portraits, furniture, silver, china from 16th-19th century. Featured in Country Life magazine, where Giles Worsley described it as “having generous proportions and the quality of materials and of detail is very high, the standard of plasterwork is almost opulent”. Also a Victorian walled garden, still in full production today.
