Climate Courage Schools: launch
What would a school system look like that’s honest about the future? One that supports young people to adapt — and thrive — in a rapidly changing world?
Young people are growing up in a time of deep and accelerating change. Climate breakdown, ecological collapse, AI, inequality and economic disruption are reshaping what the future looks like – and how it feels. It’s no surprise that anxiety, despair and disengagement are on the rise. Yet our schools still teach for a world of stability and linear careers.
Climate Courage Schools is a new campaign from the Climate Majority Project, calling for education that puts emotional wellbeing at the heart of how we teach young people about, and prepare them for, a climate-destabilised world:
1. Leadership: Put climate understanding, emotional insight, nature connection and whole-school action in every head-teacher’s brief.
2. Culture: Train all teaching staff to navigate climate distress and foster connection.
3. Action: Give schools protected time to co-create real-world adaptation projects with students.
4. Curriculum: Prioritise and incentivise emotionally-aware climate learning in every subjectJ
Join our online launch event – part of London Climate Action Week – to hear from Caroline Lucas, the UK’s first Green MP (2010–2024), Louise Edgington, educational psychologist, ClimatEdPsych, as well as the campaign team and frontline voices from UK classrooms.
Who should attend: school leaders, teachers, mental-health professionals, policy makers, youth advocates and anyone invested in the future of education.
