Advanced Zoom Training - Fundraiser for Palestine
Tue 23 Apr 2024 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM BST
Online, Zoom
Description
Join me for a two hour spin around Zoom and learn how to maximise the platform for actually engaging online meetings and workshops. There's no need for it to be boring boxes on a screen!
This one off session is a fundraiser to support the provision of aid for people in Palestine. All proceeds will go directly to UNRWA (United National Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East).
Come along if you want to learn the skills, and/or come along if you care about the issues.
It is a myth that online training or meetings are always boring or disengaging. This does not need to be the case!
What we'll learn
- Creative and effective use of breakout groups
- Using the annotate function (super helpful and flexible)
- Using sound and music
- Maximising use of the chat box
- Using one Vs two screens (two is better...)
- Whiteboards and other tools to combine
- Starting and ending meetings well
- Other tips for inclusivity eg: closed captions for transcripts and few other tricks
Who is this for?
Anyone who wants to learn how to go beyond the very basics on Zoom. You'll probably already have the fundamentals down, but would like to know how to be a bit less repetitive or limited in how you're using it. It could be for online training/workshops or just for good and engaging meetings.
Theory and practice
We'll do some theory on principles of online engagement and Zoom facilitation, with the chance to practice skills live and gain feedback from peers and me as the trainer.

Why am I doing this?
At a loss of what I can do to in the face of such horror, I realised I can do some easy fundraising with my existing skills. I hope this is a chance to redirect some cash and for you to learn some useful tips along the way. As ticket sales come in they will be sent straight onwards to UNRWA.
A note on the politics
The current context and history of the region is complicated, with much pain and grief experienced on both sides. This fundraiser is aimed at supporting Palestinians with aid because of the undeniable scale of acute humanitarian need for those in Gaza and is also driven by my own personal views on the situation. It does not mean that I view this in simplified one-sided terms. It pains me to have to clarify this.
However, this event is explicitly a facilitation training that happens to be a fundraiser, so we won't be touching on the issues during the session. If you want to talk about the politics, you are very welcome to drop me a line and I'd be happy to discuss offline :)
