This year’s lineup boasts an impressive catalog of 8 up-and-coming local artists and DJs based mostly out of Toronto and Montreal, who represent a wide range of musical influences. Join us for a celebration of electronic music and the vibrant culture it brings to our communities featuring Sterling Grove's eclectic soundscapes that combine organic and electronic instruments and Ellyn Woods' dreamy vocal performance, Louke Man's unique fusion of tender melodies with crunchy lo-fi drums, Ciel's dancefloor-oriented club records, BAILE's textured dance music blending foley recordings and warm synthesizers, Pascale Project's energetic and eclectic DJ sets, Korea Town Acid's experimental hypnotic vibes drawing from left-field house and techno, Ceremonies' rollers and bubblers with heated drums, and Ilan Sikorsky’s return to dance-music’s roots with a vinyl set filled with 90s house gems from around the world.
Food, Drink, Vendors, and Merch: A variety of local food and drink vendors will provide a multitude of eating and drinking options. There will also be a sustainable market where local vendors will be selling handmade and locally sourced items such as jewelry, apparel, crafts, and sustainable products. We will be doing onsite screen printing of limited edition Cloud 9 merchandise.
Eco-Art: A contemporary form of environmental art created by artists concerned about local and global environmental situations. This year No.9 is partnering with The Agnes Etherington Art Centre to commission nine globally renowned Canadian and Indigenous Artists to create Eco-Art installations on the festival grounds. We will be offering Eco-Art tours throughout the day.
Camping: If you're planning on attending Cloud 9 Electronic Music & Eco Art Festival and want to camp, you can purchase either the Camping Pass, which allows you to camp Saturday night, or the All-Inclusive Pass, which includes camping on both Friday and Saturday night. There will be portapotties close to the campsite and a water buggy for campers to refill their reusable bottles.
Campers can bring additional food and nonalcoholic drinks if they would like, but the camping pass includes Sunday morning breakfast (morning glory muffins made from ingredients harvested from our garden, tea, coffee, and apples)*, and the All-access Pass includes both Sunday morning breakfast and Friday night dinner (a choice of two different types of vegetable stews made from ingredients harvested from our garden served with cornbread and an apple)*. In Addition, food vendors will be available to purchase from all day Saturday. More information about meal ingredients and vendor options will be posted on our website soon.
For those coming from Toronto or Montreal, we highly recommend the All-Inclusive Pass as it's only $10 more, and you won't miss out on the Saturday morning festival activities. SUSTAINABILITY
Cloud 9 is committed to hosting the most sustainable event we can. We take a sustainable lens across all areas of our operations and are committed to measuring and reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions wherever possible. We are working towards our goal of being a Zero-Waste event, supporting our guests to travel sustainably (ride-sharing), offering sustainable merchandise through upcycling pre-loved clothing, working with partners to utilize on-site solar power generation, and offsetting remaining emissions through a partnership with Canada Forest Trust, as a secondary strategy. We are committed to publishing a report by Q4 2023, which will inventory our emissions, expand on findings from our sustainable operations, and look to our future sustainability goals, including the aspiration to operate a carbon-neutral festival. If you have questions about our commitment to sustainability, please contact us.
TRANSPORTATION
As you plan your journey to the festival, please keep in mind that, as of now, there is no public transportation or shuttle buses available. However, we encourage carpooling and have set up a carpooling group discussion on our Facebook page for you to connect with other festival-goers.
For those planning to drive, we have on-site parking available. Purchase your parking pass on our ticketing site before September 5th for $10, or buy it on-site for $15 (card payments only). We kindly ask our guests to use our designated parking lot out of respect and consideration for the community surrounding the festival. Parking on the roadside poses a safety hazard and can disrupt the flow of traffic, which is why law enforcement will be ticketing and towing any cars parked outside of our lot. We want to ensure that all of our guests have a safe and enjoyable experience, which is why we highly recommend purchasing a parking pass for our lot. Not only does it guarantee you a spot, but all proceeds go towards supporting a charitable cause.
CLOUD 9 CODE
Respect the Land
A weekend on our farm is your chance to get a break from the busy city life and enjoy the stunning landscape No.9 Gardens has to offer, so keep it that way. Do your part to help clean up and promote the motto ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle that has been ingrained in our memories since childhood. Bring your reusable water bottles, which can be refilled at our on-site water truck, but don’t think you’re clever trying to sneak alcohol. Alcoholic beverages not purchased on-site will be subject to confiscation.
Respect Each Other
We uphold the expectation that festivalgoers will respect one another’s space, consent, and bodies to ensure that everyone gets the full Cloud 9 experience. Discriminatory, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, sexually harassing, and/or violent behavior have no place at Cloud 9. Dance floors are spaces where people should be able to express themselves authentically and freely, so don’t be that person.
Respect our Policies
We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our Cloud 9 family. To do so, we must ask our guests to respect our policies: All guests must be 19+ years of age, no guests shall bring illegal substances or firearms to the premises, no animals allowed on-site except for service animals, and vehicles must be parked in the designated areas at all times. Cannabis is allowed on-site in accordance with current provincial law but must be smoked in the designated smoking areas along with tobacco products. Campers should refer to our official guide of what to bring/not bring. For the safety and security of our patrons, Cloud 9 reserves the right to refuse entry and/or remove anyone who is physically or psychologically incapacitated.
FAQs: Please visit our website here for FAQs.
REFUND POLICY: Tickets are nonrefundable. This is a rain-or-shine event. If you are no longer able to come, please consider sending your ticket to a friend. All ticket profits from this event are donated to the charity, No.9.
CREATING AN INCLUSIVE SPACE: Cloud 9 recognizes that music festivals can create environments where discrimination and oppression can go easily unnoticed. Our team is actively working to make sure our infrastructures, our processes, our volunteers, and our security staff are prepared to prevent discrimination of all types as well as support patrons subject to any oppressive behaviour.
It is important to acknowledge that racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and many other types of discrimination can be hurtful without needing violence or outrage. Subtle actions can lead to a very hostile space and need to be recognized as unacceptable. We are ensuring that all individuals among the Cloud 9 team are equipped to prevent, identify, and react to such actions. To learn more about the concrete actions that Cloud 9 is taking to ensure that our festival is a place for all, or to support us in making it so, please contact our festival Director at hdavies@no9.ca.
CONFLICT DE-ESCALATION AND EMERGENCY PLANNING: While working to ensure that Cloud 9 is a respectful and safe event, we are also developing plans for our volunteers and security staff to follow if certain situations arise. It is important for us to be transparent about how conflict and emergencies will be handled on the day of the festival.
For many reasons linked to power dynamics and prioritizing the comfort and safety of all patrons, we aim to minimize police involvement with our event. Due to the permits, we acquired, and the rurality of the location of Cloud 9, a police car is required to be near our site. The main reasons for their presence is to discourage drunk driving and to deal with any illegal drug possession, usage, or sale.
With this in mind, Cloud 9 is not counting on the police to help de-escalate conflicts or emergencies. For all minimal instances, we encourage you to reach out to the volunteers on site. If the situation is out of the scope of our volunteers, they will seek out support from our security staff. Police will only be involved if individuals are behaving extremely violently or putting other patrons in extreme danger.
MEDIA RELEASE: By entering Cloud9 event premises, you allow photography, audio and video recording for various purposes, including promotion and advertising. Any resulting materials may be used by Cloud9 and No.9 Contemporary Art & the Environment and its affiliates without payment or liability to you. You waive any right to inspect or approve such materials.
