VOCAL LAB: NEW WORKS IN PRACTICE

A masterclass-style workshop led by acclaimed vocalist and interdisciplinary artist Eliza Bagg designed for singers working in contemporary and experimental contexts. VOCAL LAB invites participants to present a new or in-progress work alongside their accompanist, offering participants detailed feedback on interpretation, technique, collaboration, as well as approaches to navigating new works. This workshop offers a supportive, process-oriented environment with emphasis placed on developing a flexible, responsive relationship to score, text, and sound.
Drawing from her wide-ranging practice across early music, contemporary performance, and experimental forms, Eliza will also share insights into sustaining a dynamic, multifaceted artistic career.

Eliza Bagg is an experimental vocalist and composer, performing in boundary-pushing work around the globe from the Concertgebouw to Carnegie Hall. She has soloed with major symphonies including the NY and LA Philharmonics, sung in new operas from the Komische Oper Berlin to Beth Morrison Projects, and premiered work by composers like Ted Hearne, Ellen Reid, Michael Gordon, Chaya Czernowin, and John Zorn. She is a member of vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth.
