Told by the next gen artists, doers, thinkers that have broken through tradition, to reshape and refresh Wales’ creative scene. Explore the diverse and dynamic talent bringing Wales into a new era hosted in this curated event for St David's Day, the patron saint of Wales.
Curated by Clwb Creative Cymru and supported by the Welsh Government via Creative Wales, this immersive, day-long cultural takeover at Shoreditch Arts Club will spotlight trailblazing young Welsh talent across film, photography, music, and panel discussions—bringing together a new generation of creatives who are shaping the future of Wales.
Expect an electrifying mix of thought-provoking film screenings, a striking photography exhibition, and inspiring conversations with Welsh cultural pioneers culminating in a live DJ-led networking event, fostering meaningful connections within the Welsh diaspora and the creative scene in London.
PANEL TALK 1 @ 5pm: The Sound of Wales: Language, Identity & Independence in music. Hosted by Reem Muhammed, Radio presenter and new music plugger as she hosts the lineup of Bafta nominated & former BBC Introducing Artist of the Year rapper & alt RnB artist LEMFRECK, as well as rising DJ/producer Douvelle19 fresh off releasing his third LP and first on RCA Records, and DJ & broadcast presenter Katie Owen. It’s no doubt Welsh music, and Welsh language music in particular has been having a real moment in recent years, but who is leading the way, how do we get more of our artists on bigger platforms and what should be on your playlist right now?
PANEL TALK 2 @ 6pm: Storytelling in Media: Why Real Representation of Welsh Voices Matter. Hosted by Clwb Creative Cymru co-creator and filmmaker Dagmar Bennett, this talk invites the Bafta-winning filmmaker Janis Pugh, writer/director behind 2023’s Chuck Chuck Baby, alongside Ibby, Founder of streetwear brand IBY and IBYFEST event, and Lydia Birgani-Nia, Welsh/Iranian brand consultant, whose diverse experience includes sports culture, Web3 and digital innovation an to discuss the roles of media, brands and advertisers in helping showcase authentic Welsh stories and culture.
PANEL TALK 3 @7pm: Brand Power: Self-Promotion, Community Building and Legacy, hosted by Clwb Creative Cymru co-creator and Founder of Talent Agency Creative Ally Phie McKenzie and speakers Brodie Meah, founder of independent restaurant and wine brand Top Cuvée, and journalist, editor and author of the book TAKEAWAY Angela Hui. This panel will dive into community building, and explore the power of authentic personal branding, and ways to make your voice heard in ever saturated spaces.
