CMWI (Canadian Muslim Women's Institute Inc.) is a non-profit refugee and newcomer support organization that was founded in 2006. CMWI aims to foster sound emotional health, stability, and personal development to assist newcomer women and their families in Canada. CMWI's commitment to empowering women socially, economically, and spiritually is facilitated through community-based programs that encourage the development of skills and confidence to contribute fully to society. Their programs and services for women and families include Employment Referral Services, an English Conversation Support Group, a Moms and Tots Program, Computer Training, Peer Support Groups, Home Visits, Sharing Circles, a Women's Exercise Class, a Halal Community Pantry, Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank, and The Cutting Edge (Sewing Skills Training and Social Enterprise).
