Craft Your Future
Craft Your Future is Cockpit’s signature professional development programme for new makers (makers who haven't yet registered as a sole trader), comprised of online workshops catered to all craft practices. This course will help you explore your options, gain business know-how, and build confidence in your future as a professional maker.
Short weekly sessions and self-directed homework provide you with support to:
- understand your readiness as a business or freelancer, including key things to consider in your life as a maker
- develop your creative vision and craft skills
- build a network
- register your business
- work out what to charge for your work
Programme outline
Eight key topics will be covered over 8 online workshops. Self-directed homework helps you put what you learn in to practice. You’ll also receive one-to-one support in two meetings with the Cockpit business coaches.
You are expected to attend all workshops and one-to-one meetings and complete the assigned homework.

- Week 4: Getting started with the basics
- Week 5: Building a supportive network
- Week 6: Developing your signature style
- Week 7: Pricing your work with confidence
- Week 8: Taking the next step
