La Suprema Trailer.
Synopsis:
The film transports us to a remote, forgotten Colombian town completely erased from the maps, where there is no electricity, let alone running water. Laureana, a strong-willed Afro-Colombian teenager, discovers that her estranged uncle will soon box for the world championship title, and the match will be broadcast live on television. Driven by immense hope and familial pride, Laureana convinces her entire community to join her in an seemingly impossible crusade: finding a television and a power source to watch the fight, battling against systemic neglect and the physical landscape. Fusing lighthearted humor with deep dignity, La Suprema is a heart-warming portrait of collective resilience and invisible communities fighting to be seen on their own terms.

Short Description: The Official Selection & Festival Context
The Official Selection serves as the central heart of the first London Colombian Film Festival. Operating in direct alignment with the festival's overarching general objective, this selection deliberately showcases uncommon cinematographic narratives that break away from the habitual global headlines of violence and drugs. By shifting international attention toward the magic, deep resilience, immense talent, and creative dreams embedded in Colombian culture, the curated selection reveals a highly nuanced, layered portrait of the nation’s contemporary identity.
This screening perfectly anchors the festival's foundational theme: "Celebrating Diversity of Voices." Rather than telling a story from the traditional urban elite centers of power, deliberately champions a deeply localized peripheral perspective. Filmed entirely on location in Matuya (María La Baja, Bolívar), the production company () elevated local voices by integrating community members into the filmmaking process and casting indigenous and Afro-descendant talent from the region. Enhanced by a rich musical landscape that features contributions from regional masters like Pabla Flórez, the film exemplifies the extraordinary aesthetic maturity of contemporary Colombian cinema. It proudly displays how a new generation of creators are dismantling stereotypes to craft distinct, inclusive visual languages that amplify previously silenced realities on the international stage.
Join us at Genesis Cinema for an extraordinary evening of cinematic storytelling, celebration of community spirit, and a window into the diverse voices defining contemporary Latin American film!
