Soñé su nombre Trailer.

Synopsis:

At thirty years old, director Ángela Carabalí discovers a long-buried truth: her father did not simply abandon her as a child, he was violently disappeared during Colombia’s internal conflict. Spurred by a haunting, recurring dream of a faceless man calling her name, Ángela sets off on a profound journey across Colombia to reconstruct the memory of a father she never knew. Navigating silent landscapes, old family secrets, and the bureaucratic walls of national memory registries, this highly personal piece of autobiographical filmmaking evolves into a poetic meditation on grief, ancestral presence, and the enduring power of blood ties.

🌟 About the Official Selection & Festival Context

The Official Selection serves as the vibrant pulse of the first edition of the London Colombian Film Festival, organised by COL FILMS LIMITED.

Operating in complete harmony with the festival's overarching objective, this selection intentionally showcases uncommon cinematographic narratives that look beyond the habitual global headlines of crime and drugs. By shifting international attention toward the magic, deep resilience, immense talent, and creative dreams embedded within the culture, the program offers a nuanced, multi-layered portrait of contemporary Colombian identity.

This screening perfectly embodies the festival's core theme: "Celebrating Diversity of Voices." I Dreamed His Name reframes the historic trauma of the Colombian conflict through a deeply intimate, feminine, and autobiographical lens. Rather than relying on traditional political reporting, Carabalí utilizes a delicate essayistic style that explores how geopolitical violence echoes through the private spaces of family, memory, and dreams. The film reflects the incredible aesthetic maturity of contemporary Colombian documentary makers, proving that the national industry has developed a highly sophisticated visual language to address historic loss and human dignity on the global stage.
