Join us for a special screening of the acclaimed film Un Poeta in support of Children Change Colombia’s emergency response efforts following the devastating 10 August 2026 earthquake in Chocó.

All ticket proceeds (after event production costs) will directly support vulnerable children and communities in the most affected areas through Children Change Colombia.

Synopsis

Directed by Simón Mesa Soto, Un Poeta is a poignant comedic drama following Óscar Restrepo, a 56-year-old poet whose obsession with the written word has brought him neither fame nor financial stability. Unemployed, battling alcoholism, and facing eviction by his siblings, Óscar takes a job as a schoolteacher.

There, he discovers Yurlady, a talented student from a humble background with a extraordinary natural talent for poetry. Seeing a chance to redeem his own failed ambitions, Óscar attempts to mentor her—only to struggle with his own artistic ego and frustrations along the way.

Children Change Colombia is working on the ground to provide immediate emergency relief, shelter, and long-term protection for affected children and families. In solidarity with the emergency response, 50% of all merchandise sales will be donated directly to the Cali Audiovisual Guild (Gremio Audiovisual de Cali). During the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, these brave film crew members volunteered on the front lines, deploying their professional lighting and sound equipment to assist search-and-rescue teams in collapsed buildings.
