Join hike lead Andy for a guided hike through the beautiful forests and trails of Mount Macedon, taking on a full-day circuit through one of Victoria’s most scenic hiking regions. Just over an hour from Melbourne, this hike combines towering forest, fern-lined tracks, lookouts and long stretches of peaceful bushland into one unforgettable day on the trail. This hike is all about shared experience, a bit of challenge, and taking the time to slow down and enjoy the views along the way.

🌿 What to Expect 

Starting from the trailhead, we’ll make our way through Mount Macedon’s iconic forest trails, weaving through tall gums, cooler fern gullies and quieter bush tracks. Along the way we’ll pass through some of the region’s most scenic sections, with opportunities to stop, catch our breath and take in the views. This trail is approximately 17km, making it one of our longer Hike Society events. While there are some steady climbs and longer stretches of walking, the pace will remain social and achievable, with plenty of stops along the way.

Duration: Approx. 5-6 hours at a social pace (including breaks)
Difficulty: Advanced (moderate fitness required due to climbs)
Terrain: Mix of wide tracks, granite slabs, and forest trails with some steep sections
Park: Mount Macedon Regional Park

🎒 What to Bring
Comfortable activewear and sturdy hiking shoes
At least 2L of water (limited shade on exposed sections)
Packed lunch + snacks
Hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
Weather-appropriate layers
Phone or camera for photos
A positive attitude and sense of adventure

🚗 Meeting Point, Parking & Park Info
Meeting Location: Mount Macedon (exact location will be shared prior to event)
Meet at 9:45 AM for a 10:00 AM start

Arriving early and carpooling is recommended. We will be sharing a WhatsApp group link closer to the event that you can join.

🌤️ Weather & Safety
This event is weather-dependent. In the case of unsafe conditions (extreme heat, heavy rain, or park closures), participants will be notified via email the day before. Please stay on marked trails, follow the guidance of hike leaders, and take care on rocky and exposed sections.
