Description

As a business owner, your story is important in engaging with your potential customers.  So why do so many of us get so nervous when we need to speak at networking events or when pitching to potential customers?

Would you like to feel excited rather than nervous when you speak in public?

Would you like to leaving a lasting impression of you and your business every time you speak?

Do you want to be invited to do more speaking and to have the confidence to say yes to every opportunity that comes your way?

I am sure you can remember a speech or talk you have listened to, that caught your attention or left you feeling inspired. Now contrast that to the ones that haven’t caught your attention. At worst you spent time wondering how to excuse yourself discretely or checking your phone under the table. How much of that speech do you remember? I suspect it is somewhere between zero to very little.

As Stand Up Comedians, the one thing you get is instant feedback from your audience. If the joke doesn’t work – nobody laughs. And yes this is excruciatingly painful but it is also incredibly powerful. To carry on, especially after a bad gig, comedians learn a whole series of techniques to ensure that when they are on stage, it goes well.

During this half day workshop, we will be sharing some of the approaches comedians use to engage and keep their audience with them, including:

  • How to control your nerves so you can give a great performance
  • How to communicate with emotion
  • How to make your presentation punchy, to ensure the key messages are not lost
  • How to craft your speech into a story that keeps your audience listening from start to finish
  • And yes – when and how to inject humour into your presentation or pitch
