Session Info:
Enjoy some time in nature from afar but be comfortable in the knowledge that you are on hand should your child seek to clarify anything, check-in or simply feel more comfortable knowing you're there. We're delighted to be able to bring this option to the Home Education community from numerous requests received since the first trial started in May.
🏕️ The session will be an initial "Welcome & Exploration" of the extensive 4 acre grounds and then an introduction to discussing the main 5 survival skills that will be explored and built upon in each session. October will focus in on Survival Shelter Skills, the challenges can extend beyond basic shelter building for more advanced forest explorers, and can include 5 different basic den shelters for those new to survival skills and forest environments. Instructors will adapt to the skills of the children in attendance and can teach different fastening techniques, different knot types and how to get dens and tarpaulins tight/secure to withstand wind/rain or to uphold heavy weights etc.
Materials included: Forest materials, ponchos, tents, sticks, hammocks, ropes, straps, tarpaulins etc.
In winter - camp fires go without saying! As does individual and team challenges, games and time to explore!
No session is forced and children are free to engage as they choose. Instructors will deliver key points during the session and assist children as needed. Note that the ratio in place does not permit 1:1 support or instruction should children not want to engage in the main activity but parents are free to facilitate alongside and Instructors will do their upmost to help in a fluid and real-time way. As always, the focus is on fun, learning and exploration. It's not just about survival skills; it's about making new friends, embracing challenges, and discovering your inner strength. Whether you’re scaling new heights or mastering the wild, our survival skills day promises adventure with friends old and new, teamwork, and unforgettable memories.
