🪖 LITTLE COMMANDOS  OUTDOOR ADVENTURE SESSIONS

EXPLORE • LEARN • GROW • HAVE FUN

Welcome to Little Commandos, a unique outdoor adventure experience based at our woodland outdoor centre at The Barn, Thistleton Road, Thistleton, PR4 3XA.

Run by Dave, an ex-Royal Marine, Little Commandos gives children the opportunity to get outdoors, explore, get muddy, learn practical skills and enjoy genuine outdoor adventure in a safe and supportive environment.

🌲 THIS IS NOT A DROP-OFF SESSION

Parents/guardians MUST stay on site for the entire session.

Little Commandos is designed as an interactive outdoor experience for children and their parents/guardians, rather than a childcare or drop-off service.

Parents can watch, support and get involved alongside their children, while children have the freedom to explore and take on challenges at their own pace.

👧🧒 AGE & ABILITY

Ages are dependent on the individual child's ability, confidence and suitability for the activities.

We understand that children develop at different rates, so rather than focusing purely on age, we look at whether the child is able to safely participate in the activities.

If you're unsure whether your child is suitable, please contact us before booking.

🔥 WHAT WILL WE GET UP TO?

Each 3-hour session is built around free play and exploration, with an optional activity focus.

Children can choose what they want to get involved with, rather than being expected to follow a rigid timetable.

Activities can include:

🔥 Fire Lighting – learn how to safely build and light a fire.

🏕️ Shelter Building – build shelters using tarps, ropes and natural materials.

🪢 Knot Tying & Rope Skills – learn practical knots and outdoor rope skills.

🏹 Archery – develop focus, coordination and accuracy.

🌲 Forest Skills – explore the woodland and learn how to use and understand the natural environment.

🧭 Navigation & Exploration – develop basic navigation and observation skills.

🧗 Climbing & Confidence Challenges – age- and ability-appropriate challenges designed to develop confidence.

💪 Team Challenges – problem-solving, communication and working together.

🥷 Free Play & Adventure – children can run, explore, build, investigate and create their own adventures.

🩹 OUTDOOR FIRST AID

Alongside our adventure sessions, Commando Rugby School can also deliver Outdoor First Aid training and practical first-aid sessions.

Children can be introduced to age-appropriate skills such as basic first aid, dealing with outdoor injuries, bleeding control, improvised splints and understanding what to do in an emergency.

☕ FOR PARENTS

We have an onsite coffee shop, so parents can grab a drink while their children explore — or get involved and join the adventure!

Please bring a packed lunch for your child.

Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear are strongly recommended — we're in the forest, so expect to get a little muddy!
