Screening of Documentary: "Crosswinds: The Courageous Life of Cornelia Fort"

Crosswinds is a new documentary chronicling the life and legacy of Cornelia Fort, a pioneering aviator among the first women to serve in the U.S. military as a pilot. Her compelling story includes being in the air and surviving the attack on Pearl Harbor, ferrying aircraft during WWII, and challenging social and gender norms of her time. This documentary features never-before-seen archival footage, personal interviews with Fort family members, and analysis by an aviation expert who provides insight into the mystery of Cornelia’s plane in Hawaii in 1941 and her tragic mid-air collision and death in March 1943. Judy S. Miller, founder of Redwood Educational Technologies, wrote and produced Crosswinds.

Airbase Georgia operates a restored Fairchild PT-19 Cornell, the same model aircraft Cornelia Fort ferried during her service. The aircraft will be on display at the event. The mission of Airbase Georgia and the Commemorative Air Force is to Educate, Honor and Inspire through Flight and Living History Experiences. The screening of Crosswinds: The Courageous Life of Cornelia Fort is a unique opportunity for Georgians of all ages to learn about World War II and some of the aviators of the Greatest Generation.
