Writer and interdisciplinary artist Anne de Marcken is joined by writers Quenton Baker, Rebecca Brown and cellist Lori Goldston to celebrate the release of her debut novel, It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over.

Anne de Marcken is a writer and interdisciplinary artist. Winner of The Novel Prize, It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over is her debut novel, published simultaneously by New Directions (US), Fitzcarraldo Editions (UK) and Giramondo (AU). She is also author of the lyric novella, The Accident: An Account (Spuyten Duyvil, 2020), and her writing has been featured in Best New American Voices, Ploughshares, Narrative, Entropy, Glimmer Train, Los Angeles Review, on NPR’s Selected Shorts and elsewhere. She has received fellowship and award recognition for her work across disciplines in film, site-specific installation and writing. Anne is the founding Editor and Publisher of the innovative small press The 3rd Thing. Quenton Baker is a poet, educator, and Cave Canem fellow. Their current focus is black interiority and the afterlife of slavery. Their work has appeared in The Offing, Jubilat, Vinyl, The Rumpus and elsewhere. They are a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee, and the recipient of the 2018 Arts Innovator Award from Artist Trust. They were a 2019 Robert Rauschenberg Artist in Residence and a 2021 NEA Fellow. Rebecca Brown is an American novelist, essayist, playwright, artist, and professor. She was the first writer in residence at Richard Hugo House, co-founder of the Jack Straw Writers Program, and served as the creative director of literature at Centrum in Port Townsend, Washington from 2005 to 2009. Brown's best-known work is her novel The Gifts of the Body, which won a Lambda Literary Award in 1994. Rebecca Brown is an Emeritus faculty member in the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont and is also a multi-media artist whose work has been displayed in galleries such as the Frye Art Museum.

Lori Goldston is a classically trained and rigorously de-trained cellist, composer, improvisor, producer, writer and teacher from Seattle. Her voice as a cellist, amplified or acoustic, is full, textured, committed and original. A relentless inquirer, her work drifts freely across borders that separate genre, discipline, time and geography.
