'Values 101: Growing public demand for change' is our flagship introductory workshop series. Over the course of five online sessions, participants are introduced to the social psychology of human values and explore how values can be engaged to generate broader and deeper commitment to pro-social and pro-environmental attitudes and behaviours.
How it works
Over the course of five online workshops, participants will:
Be introduced to the existing research on human values and discovering how they work
Have the opportunity to examine their own personal values and how these show up in their work and lives
Explore why values are important to bringing about systemic and durable social and environmental change
Develop new ideas on how to engage values in your own work
Meet others in similar roles who are also considering how to work at the level of values
Each session will be interactive, using a range of online tools to help us explore why values are important and how we can work with them better in our roles and lives. The format will alternate between input from the facilitators, discussions in pairs and small groups and as a whole forum. We will provide resources for further reading, but beyond planting questions in our minds to think about, there is no ‘homework’ between sessions.
Is this for me?
This course seeks to bring together those who work to engage people in social and environmental change. It’s ideal for those who:
Work in engagement roles within NGOs, such as campaigners, organisers, fundraisers, communicators and strategists
Advise others who work to engage the public e.g. freelancers or consultants
Volunteer for social or environmental causes and are interested in learning more about how to grow impact
Dates
This workshop series will be made up of 5 separate online sessions. While we appreciate that unexpected things happen, we’d really like everyone to attend all 5 sessions as they are designed to follow on from one another. If you can’t make all the dates below, don’t worry - we will be running this series again later in the year.
The February 2022 workshops will be held on the following dates:
Session 1 - Tuesday 3rd May, 5pm - 7pm (BST)
Session 2 - Tuesday 10th May, 5pm - 7pm (BST)
Session 3 - Tuesday 17th May, 5pm - 7pm (BST)
Session 4 - Tuesday 24th May, 5pm - 7pm (BST)
Session 5 - Tuesday 31st May, 5pm - 7pm (BST)
All times shown are UK times, but people based in other parts of the world are very welcome to join. All sessions will be held via Zoom.
Cost
* We cap the numbers of our workshops at 24. Please do think carefully about whether you can commit to all five sessions before enrolling – our workshops are usually oversubscribed and we can’t offer your place to anyone else once the workshops series has started.*
We don’t usually cover our costs in running these workshops. We’re happy about this, but it does limit the number of subsidised places that we can offer. So if you work for a larger organisation and are enrolling as part of your work, we’d ask that you use the rates below, which help us to offer subsidised places to those who couldn’t otherwise afford to participate.
One ticket will give you access to all 5 workshops.
Attending as an individual:
People who are unemployed or studying - Free (capped at 3 tickets per workshop series)
People who have some income available to invest in their learning - £30 per ticket (capped at 3 tickets per workshop series)
