At Common Cause, we recognize the need for both “outer” and “inner” change.
On the one hand, we draw on insights from the psychology of values to re-evaluate the ways in which networks and organizations can support social and environmental change. This “outer” change is focused on cultural transformation and the structural interventions that can support this. It is where our worked is centred.
On the other hand, because our work is rooted in values – what matters to us most deeply in life – we can’t ignore its implications for the personal journeys of the people with whom we connect. Indeed, our workshops usually start by encouraging participants to reflect on their own values, and the ways in which these values show up in the work that they do. This “inner” change is about deeper enquiry into what gives each of us a sense of purpose and direction in life. We don’t have the expertise, as a team, to pursue this enquiry. But we feel a responsibility to offer a space for such reflection.
We have partnered with StarterCulture, an organisation that specialises in helping people to navigate the boundaries between inner and outer work in relation to social and environmental change. We will be jointly hosting a webinar with the aim to:
We are inviting anyone who has previously attended a Common Cause workshop to join a webinar and discussion which we will host with Claire Milne from Starter Culture.
A zoom link will be circulated a few days before the call.
I have questions!
