Volunteering Values & Valuing Volunteers
Tue 7 Feb 2023 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM GMT
Online, Zoom
Description
An online workshop exploring how volunteer programmes can build on our shared values to motivate and mobilise change.
How can you help to recognise and work with the ‘compassionate’ values that underpin most people’s motivations to volunteer?
How can your volunteer programme help to build shared awareness of the importance that most people place on ‘compassionate’ values?
How can your work with volunteers contribute more widely, to building communities of active and engaged citizens?
How can your work help to elevate volunteership as a something that is widely respected and celebrated?
How can your organisation build a culture that fully values the work of those involved in volunteer programmes?
The workshop will provide both insight into the psychology of volunteering, and tried and tested examples of applying this understanding in shaping volunteer programmes. Participants will be introduced to three key principles for working with volunteers, and will be supported in applying these principles to their own work.
Who should participate?
This workshop is designed for those who work to inspire volunteers – whether as managers of large volunteer programmes, or as staff of small organisations that draw on the help of volunteers.
Who will lead the workshop?
The workshop will be facilitated by Ruth Taylor from the Common Cause Foundation and herself a serial volunteer. If you have any questions prior to the workshop please feel free to contact Ruth directly on rtaylor@commoncausefoundation.org
How do I join the session?
The workshop will be held online via Zoom. A link will be emailed to you a few days before the call.
