CommUnity is a FREE event for and by creatives and artists to come together, network, relax and share their work. This event will be 18+.

This event was set up to challenge the barriers set up that do not allow nor help people to enter or exist within the creative industries. It is also for us to come together and share our experiences, tips, and advice and show the world the amazing things we can create.

Navii Media in collaboration with Sister Shack and ESA.NE have come together to create an event that gives creatives a space to relax, rest and inspire. Being from marginalized communities and being artists we understand all too well the barriers set up for creatives to excel and share their work. We wanted to create this space for us to take up space, share knowledge and build an environment of community over competition.

The Old Coal Yard has an amazing bar with alcoholic, non-alcoholic drinks, hot drinks and snacks. This bar will be open for people to purchase items.

Do I need to be a creative to attend? Nope! We want people to learn about the creative arts and creative industry, we also want to support people already working in the creative industry.

We will have a community space and a communication stage. What are they?

Community space: a calm space to relax and get creative. Maybe you want to bring your crotchet and have a nice cuppa or bring your sketching supplies and have a chat. This is the space for that!

Communication stage: We will have slots on stage for people to share their artwork and talk about it. You could perform your poetry, sing, dance, show your illustrations or talk about your creative journey and inspire others.

We have a strict zero-tolerance policy for hate and discrimination. We want to create a space for creatives to share their story and inspire others.

The communication stage will have a maximum of TEN 5-minute slots.

So we can ensure we create a space of safety we will be checking everyone’s submissions. If there is hate/discrimination in your work will not be accepted.

If our event reaches capacity we will operate on a 1 in 1 out method.
