Community Organiser’s Toolkit: Generative Conflict (session 2)
Tue 25 Mar 2025 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM GMT
Online, Zoom
Description
Every group encounters tension, but how we respond makes all the difference. Conflict doesn’t have to divide us—it can strengthen our teams and communities when managed effectively. Join us for two interactive sessions on harnessing the power of conflict to foster collaboration, understanding, and growth within your group or organisation.
What You’ll Learn:
Across the two sessions, we will explore strategies to navigate and manage differences in working styles and approaches. We’ll learn how to embrace these differences as opportunities to improve team dynamics, boost creativity, and achieve better outcomes together. We will have a look at techniques for addressing cultural differences and resolving conflicts of opinion constructively. You will be introduced to tools to promote mutual understanding, build bridges between diverse perspectives, and transform tension into productive dialogue.
This is a two-part session so please sign up for both to get the most out of it.
Please note, this is an introductory session which will cover the basics and give you a good grounding for trying these skills in practice.
*This four-part training series aims to equip group organisers and community leaders with the facilitation skills they need to support their organisations so they move towards their purpose.*
Book an individual session or sign up to the whole series. Other sessions in the series are:
Session 1 - Running Good Meetings
Session 2 - Group Decision Making
Sessions facilitator:
Jana Light (they/them) is a facilitator, trainer, mediator and coach working primarily with grassroot groups in England and Germany. After discovering in their own social change work that having a shared goal or vision alone often wasn't enough to keep a group together and on track, they turned to facilitation and the question of what's needed to deal effectively with conflict. Over the last 5 years they have explored different modalities and practiced facilitation in various contexts. Find out more about them here: https://facilitating-light.weebly.com/
