Community Adaptation Workshop (Online)

Join CAG Oxfordshire and Oxfordshire County Council for a workshop to learn more community resilience in the face of increasing need for adaptation due to climate risks. Community resilience represents a crucial aspect of Oxfordshire’s efforts to adapt to both current and future climate change. The goals of this workshop are to raise awareness, build capacity and support community groups and parish and town councils in planning for more extreme weather events in the future. The workshops will include expertise on different aspects of resilience from across the Council. To inspire and empower follow on action, CAG will also be launching a small grants programme to support community climate adaptation interventions following these workshops.

The climate in Oxfordshire is rapidly changing and this represents a significant risk to residents and businesses. Summers are becoming hotter and drier, winters are becoming warmer and wetter and we can expect more intense storms in the future.

In recent years, a number of notable weather patterns have been observed in Oxfordshire:

• 2022: A new record temperature of 38.1C was recorded.
• September 2024: The wettest month since 1774.
• 2025: Hottest year on record with 4 heatwaves.
