Join Catriona Bass, CEO of Long Mead Foundation’s Thames Valley Wildflower Meadow Restoration Project and co-initiator of the Nature Recovery Network (a network of people for nature in Eynsham and surrounding area).
Long Mead is part of the last 4 square miles of great burnet-meadow foxtail meadow in the UK. Catriona will take us on a tour of the plant nursery where she will tell us more about the individual plants and how they record them. We will also learn some key concepts for plant identification and get our hands dirty by helping with some potting on of rare species.
Finally Catriona will take us on a walk through the meadow, whilst sharing the importance of this landscape for biodiversity, food production, carbon storage and flood mitigation. Catriona will also talk about their model of community-driven landscape-scale nature recovery, which connects local experts and enthusiasts where they all live enabling local people of all ages to engage in the long-term study of the land around them, its protection and its restoration.
