Community Resilience: Her Land Site Visit
Across Oxfordshire people, local groups and parish councils are increasingly interested in putting things in place so that their village, town or neighbourhood is prepared for flooding, higher summer temperatures and other unexpected events. The heat waves last summer caught a lot of us off guard, disrupting normal routines and in some instances, threatening health and life.
At Community Action Groups (CAG) Oxfordshire, we're supporting groups to develop that resilience and for any local group who wants to be part of a network (or "community or practice") working on local resilience to learn from each other as they do so. We're excited about this work: we've seen repeatedly that people coming together locally to prepare for future disruptions strengthens a sense of connection and meaning, in addition to the structures and interventions that are implemented. And many things that can be put in place are low-tech, affordable and save money for households.
So as a parish councillor, member of a local group, interested parent, member of a faith organisation, you're invited to join us.
This site visit is the first in a series of workshops, capacity building events, signposting, and peer support opportunities! Booking is essential. Please let us know if you are staying for lunch and if you're able to car share to the site. Mileage is reimbursable.
