Phoenix Boys Choir Holiday Concert - $40

The Phoenix Boys choir was featured in our first season of concerts hosted at Community Church of the Verdes, and we are thrilled to have them back to kick off our 25^th season!

Founded in 1947, the Phoenix Boys Choir trains in voice, music theory, and performance for boys age 7 to 18. Currently, there are approximately 125 young boys and men participating. We expect 35-40 to participate in our concert, their holiday season opener.

Each year, the Phoenix Boys Choir offers a full season of concert performances offering a wide repertoire from classical to popular selections. They record CDs, participate in music festivals, and sing with other professional groups. Members of the Phoenix Boys Choir have performed for four United States Presidents and with entertainers such as Doc Severinsen, Stevie Wonder, and Keith Lockhart conducting the Boston Pops Orchestra.

Artistic Director Herbert Washington is a Phoenix Boys Choir alumnus. His varied and deep experiences in the choral arts bring the best of the choir’s past, while bringing impactful innovations.

At the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, the Phoenix Boys Choir celebrated its second Grammy-affiliated award through its participation in composer Austin Wintory’s award-winning score for the PlayStation 5 video game Sword of the Sea. The score received the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media. Their first Grammy was Best Choral Performance in Penderecki's Credo recording with the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra & Chorus conducted by Helmuth Rilling.
