You are invited to a Lunch and Learn featuring a company called Solar Car Park who offer a less invasive, less costly solution for our quirky local authority and public buildings’ carparks. Their solution provides carport solar and EV charging for smaller carparks which aren’t cost-effective or suitable for the larger systems currently on offer today.

Why attend?

  • Learn about a new solution which addresses common car park solar installation challenges for public sector sites
  • Hear from Council Officers who have delivered or procured solar car park solutions in the past year
  • Ask questions about how to procure and deliver car park solar
  • Find out about different technical solutions other Councils and community energy groups have investigated
  • Discuss the benefits of car park solar versus rooftop
  • Find out how other Councils have overcome common challenges to this kind of solar installation, from planning to Grid connections.

Agenda:

- 10 minutes presentation from Solar Car Park UK focused on case studies and insights from local authority/public sector projects

- 5 minute presentation from Jason Roberts, Major Projects Development Manager, Wealden District Council

- 5 minute presentation from Luke Simpkin, Senior Energy and Sustainability Officer, West Suffolk Council

- Panel Q&A and discussion to help Councils and CE groups get prepared for GB Energy Grant applications focused on putting community-owned solar on car parks with our speakers listed above plus Matt Peukert or Emily Martin from MP Renewable Consultancy (https://mprc.uk/), which handled the development work on the Sherborne Council solar car park.
