Journey with our Native Trees

When: Saturdays 22 June (Birch), 29 June (Hawthorn), 06 July (Willow), 20 July (Elder). 

Time: 10:30am to 13:30pm

Note: Tickets will be available 1 or 2 Months in advance and each date needs to be booked separately.

Maximum 8 to 10 participants.

 
Donations: Suggested donation between £5 and £25 according to financial means.  We would like Planetary Healing work to be inclusive and accessible to all, therefore, if you are not able to donate and need a FREE space, please feel free to book.

ABOUT THIS WORK

Join Clare MacQuade to journey with the physical and spiritual medicine of some of our native trees - Birch, Hawthorn, Willow, and Elder.

These circles are open to all who would like to explore their connection and relationship with the land and trees around us. You need have no prior experience of herbal or shamanic medicine to join.

In each circle, we will gather to explore in depth the medicine of one tree.

We will begin with a guided meditation to ground us into ourselves, our surroundings, and our intentions for working with this medicine.

We will sip an infusion of the tree we are working with, moving through a mindful herbal tea tasting, feeling how the medicine moves through each of us individually and spend some time discussing the medicinal properties in both the physical and spiritual sense and sharing in the lore of the tree.

We will then settle into a guided drumming journey to dream with the tree. There will be space for sharing anything you wish to in circle and grounding in the woodland before closing.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring a packed lunch or snacks, and water.

We will give offerings to the land and trees to honour our relationship with them before beginning. Your offering may be anything you choose so long as it is safe for the animals and earth to be brought to the woodland and left in nature. It need not be big or showy or even a ‘thing’; it may be a song, a prayer, or a way of tending to the land. Your intention offered is the main thing.

ABOUT CLARE

Clare is a consulting Medical Herbalist and Shamanic Practitioner in Edinburgh.

She began her study of herbs in 2005 after meeting them along the way of her own healing path and has worked closely with them, deepening her relationship with and understanding of their medicine with ongoing study and practice, ever since.

Clare began journeying into Shamanic Medicine in 2016 at a turning point in her life, with a year of personal exploration before embarking on practitioner training. This exploration deeply changed the way she related to the natural world around her - the land, trees, plants, animals, and seasons - and the ripples of that change continue move through her personal and professional practice, influencing how she approaches her Herbal Medicine practice as well as her Shamanic Work.

Clare feels a strong call to guide others in anchoring into the energy, seasons, and stories of these lands and in empowering themselves with knowledge of the medicine all around us and how to work with it.

WHERE : Meet at The Yurt at the Planetary Healing Community Woodland, Cockburnhill Road, Balerno, EH14 7JB. Bus 44 / 44A. At the village, stop at the third bus stop after the roundabout. From there, enter Cockburnhill Road and walk for approximately 15 minutes and at the V junction turn right and walk for 2 minutes until you see the Planetary Healing sign on your left. Once you've reached the sign, enter the woodland and follow the stream, crossing the bridges as you go.

PARKING: No parking in front of the woodland. Please park near Pirnie Ha' House. If you are driving, disregard the SAT Nav instructions at the very end as it will direct you to another farm. From Pirnie Ha', proceed straight ahead until you reach the V junction, turn right and continue walking for approximately 2 minutes. See instructions above.

NOTE: On your arrival, please feel free to let us know your preferred pronouns (e.g. he/him, she/her, they/them) and what name you would like us to refer to you by.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Space is limited, so if for any reason you need to cancel, please let us know asap, so we can free up the space for others on the waiting list. Due to the amount of work involved, donations are non-refundable.

WHAT TO BRING:  We will provide art materials, tea and cups. If your group is 3 hours or longer, please bring a packed lunch. 

PHOTOS: Occasionally we take group pictures for promotions, reports,  funders, newsletter and social media. If you would prefer not to be in the picture, please communicate this to the facilitator on arrival.
