ABOUT THIS WORK:
Introduction to the Medicine Wheel - ancient ways in modern times
Are you on a journey of finding balance in your life? Would you like to connect more deeply to guidance and wisdom to help you navigate life’s ups and downs?
The Medicine Wheel is a powerful tool used in various indigenous cultures, particularly among Native American communities. It represents the interconnectedness of all life and the cyclical nature of existence. But it can be used effectively in our modern world as a tool for improving our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, for meditation and for personal growth - using the cycles of life and the natural world as a guide.
These workshops are intended as an introduction to the Medicine Wheel, its meaning and practical application. You will experience a re-connection to yourself, others and Mother Earth, and develop tools to help you navigate more smoothly the ups and downs of modern life.
The Medicine Wheel is typically divided into four primary directions (cardinal points) : East, South, West, and North. Each direction is associated with specific elements, seasons, animals, and particular qualities.
12 Oct: East & South Directions
• East: Represents new beginnings, illumination, and vision. It is associated with the element of fire, the season of spring, and animals like the eagle and hawk.
• South: Symbolizes growth, trust, and the emotional body. It is linked to the element of water, the season of summer, and animals such as the coyote and deer
26 Oct: West & North Directions
• West: Stands for introspection, strength, and the physical body. It corresponds to the element of earth, the season of autumn, and animals like the bear and jaguar.
• North: Represents wisdom, clarity, and the mental body. It is associated with the element of air, the season of winter, and animals such as the buffalo and white wolf.
Note:
*the other 3 Directions of the Medicine Wheel (Above, Below and the Centre) will be covered at a future date
To benefit fully from this work we recommend booking for both dates as this work is progressive. If you cannot do both dates, some catch up might be possible.
Please bring a personal blanket, a notebook and a snack. Cushions, some blankets, a cosy wood-burning stove, tea, water and cups will be provided.
