Cacao Ceremony

ABOUT THIS WORK

Join us for a heart-opening cacao ceremony held in a Celtic-inspired space of nature, sound, and stillness.

Rooted in the spirit of the land and inspired by ancient groves and stone circles, this gathering invites you to slow down, reconnect, and journey inward. Through ceremonial cacao, guided visualisation, and live sound (drum, rattle, and singing bowls), you’ll be supported into a space of deep presence and gentle heart opening.

Cacao has been traditionally used in ceremonial contexts by Indigenous communities of Central America, particularly the Maya. We honour these origins with respect and gratitude, while holding this as a contemporary, earth-connected gathering.

All are welcome. No experience needed, just bring an open heart, comfortable clothing and anything that helps you feel at ease. Come as you are.

Please Note: Ceremonial cacao is a natural stimulant and may not be suitable for everyone. It is not recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking antidepressants (such as SSRIs), have a serious heart condition, or are sensitive to caffeine. If you are unsure, please consult your healthcare provider before attending.

ABOUT SHONAID BRIGHDE-BRIGANTI

From my earliest years, I have felt a deep connection with the natural world, a place where I have always felt at home. As a teenager, I was drawn to Transcendental Meditation and Yoga, beginning a lifelong path of wellbeing and inner exploration. 

My studies in Anthropology deepened my appreciation of the sacred relationship between people, culture, and the land.After nearly 40 years in education as a teacher and Head Teacher in both the UK and internationally, I have woven my experience in leadership with my spiritual practice. 

I am a trained Mindfulness Teacher, Shamanic Practitioner, Sound Healer, and Cacao Ceremony Facilitator. In Glastonbury, I answered the call to serve as a Priestess of Goddess Brighde. Through Brighde’s sacred flame, the energy of inspiration, healing, and creativity, I offer ceremonies, workshops and meditative practices that weave together sound, creative spirit and support a gentle path towards wholeness. 

My workshops offer a welcoming and inclusive space, open to all who feel the call to create, explore, and heal, regardless of age or gender.

WEATHER: We will be warm and cosy inside the YURT where we have wood-burner stove, flab-back comfortable seats and blankets. 

DONATIONS: Our work is made possible by our funders, supporting access for those facing financial hardship and wellbeing challenges. If that’s you, please book a FREE space. If however, you are someone who can contribute, it helps us cover core costs that usually are not supported by funders. Cash donations on the day is also okay.

WHERE : YURT: Meet at 5 Cockburn Farm Cottage, Balerno, EH14 7JB. Bus 44 / 44A. At the village, stop at the third bus stop after the roundabout. From there, enter Cockburnhill Road and walk for approximately 10 minutes, when you get to the cottages, turn right. We are the cottage number 5 and you will see the yurt in the garden.

PARKING: Please park inside our driveway.

NOTE: On your arrival, please feel free to let us know your preferred pronouns (e.g. he/him, she/her, they/them) and what name you would like us to refer to you by.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Space is limited, so if for any reason you need to cancel, please let us know asap, so we can free up the space for others on the waiting list. Due to the amount of work involved, donations are non-refundable.

PHOTOS: Occasionally we take group pictures for promotions, reports, funders, newsletter and social media. If you would prefer not to be in the picture, please communicate this to the facilitator on arrival.
