ESA GTIF Demonstrator Showcase
Welcome to the ESA GTIF Demonstrator Showcase!
Join us for this free half-day event with insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and innovative ideas. This in-person event starts with a networking lunch held at Enterprise Ireland offices in Dublin, bringing together stakeholders from various government sectors, industries and domains to collaborate and share their expertise from across the UK and Ireland.
GTIF Project Overview
The global climate and sustainability crisis poses unprecedented challenges to humanity. Transitioning the global economy and societies towards a carbon-neutral future, and establishing a sustainable use of natural resources and ecosystems are key challenges that need to be addressed at various levels (e.g., policies, technology & innovation, culture & livelihoods) to succeed. This is known as the Green Transition and the provision of information systems and services as the Green Transition Information Factory (GTIF). We are using Earth Observation to explore 5 themes across energy, mobility, sustainable cities, food systems, and carbon accounting as part of a European Space Agency project. Our focus is on the UK, Ireland and France.
The 5 capabilities being developed against the themes are:
- Solar power generation using bi-focal PVs and optimum locations for installation
- Urban air quality at a street level, to encourage active travel
- Urban heat islands to enable focused insulation and energy reduction programmes
- Drought and its impact on food systems
- Fugitive methane emissions in the context of carbon accounting

More information about the project can be found in the links below:
