NO TRAILER is a radical sketch comedy show where every trailer is a sketch for a movie that doesn't exist. In NO TRAILER, fake trailers become the means to explore social, political and cultural issues confronting Latinxs in the U.S. With NO TRAILER, Concrete Content elevates the traditional sketch show to deliver a production that's immersive, mixes humor and surrealism and gives audiences trailers for movies they might find in an alternate universe where Hollywood and the U.S. are not, you know, white supremacist hellholes.

Today, Latinxs are less than 5% of all Hollywood media despite being the majority minority in the U.S., half of the entire population of Los Angeles and one-quarter of all box office ticket sales and streaming subscriptions. This erasure on-screen parallels the abductions and disappearances of Latinx immigrants and social disregard for Latinxs off-screen. Under the direction of Ricardo Gamboa and Jessi Realz, NO TRAILER's ensemble cast takes Latinx representation into their own hands and frame and laugh their way into a country and media invested and obsessed with invisiblizing them.

NO TRAILER will world premiere as part of the Chicago Latino Theater Alliance's Destinos, Chicago International Theater Festival and will be performed at Free Street Theater's Storefront in Back of the Yards.

NO TRAILER is deeply informed by the history of Latinx cinema. In fact, its title is an homage to Chicano performance art group's NO MOVIE project. As such this production will also include an installation at Free Street traversing the history of Latinx cinema and supplemental programming including Latino movie nights and pláticas with Latinx film scholars and figures like Chon Noriega.

Concrete Content strives to make accessible theater and NO TRAILER is free. To manage capacity and safety, we ask audiences to reserve their seats with a sliding scale donation.
