Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, the Nature Therapy journey encourages us to relax,
slow down from our usual busy life, and gently focus on the natural world. On this leisurely walk through
the Preserve, you will have an opportunity to simply be in the moment, engage with your senses, and
perhaps encounter nature in a slightly different way. Marie McIntyre, an Association of Nature and Forest
Therapy certified guide, will offer a series of “invitations” designed to help each person in the group have
their own unique individual Nature Therapy experience.
WHO
This peaceful and restorative walk is designed for adults and children age 10 & above. It is suitable
for most activity levels and will not exceed one-mile round trip.
WHERE
During the week before the walk, Marie and the Conestee staff will select the route depending upon trail
conditions and points of interest at the time. Before the program date, participants will receive an email
with specific instructions about location and parking.
WHEN
Please plan to arrive by 11:45 a.m. so that we can begin our walk promptly at 12:00 p.m. Although we will not
be on difficult terrain, footwear should be suitable for walking on trails. Given the length of the program, it
would be advisable to bring water.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
This event will take place entirely outside in open air, with distancing possible in most situations. Please do not attend the event if you are feeling ill. In the event of such cancellations, we are happy to issue a refund.
WEATHER
If the weather is not cooperative, we will attempt to re-schedule this program, before outright cancelling.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations must be made 3 days prior to the event for a full refund.
