Elizabeth Nott (Connections) and Cambridge Takht present: Middle Eastern Percussion Course ~ Cambridge.

This is an opportunity to progress on your learning of Middle Eastern Percussion. Each session is a continuation from the previous one.

The course will run over 4 dates: 24th March and 14th, 21st and 28th April.

Frame Drum from 1:45 to 3:15PM

Darbuka from 3:45 to 5:15PM

Please be on time, 5 minutes before start if possible! These are rooms booked by the hour, so I will be starting on time.

At the end of the full course I am hoping you will have the opportunity to jam together with invited guests that will play well known tunes from the region.

The course will be recorded on a camera and uploaded on a platform that people can watch for a month, for those who can not attend all dates. However, we strongly advise to attend in person as much as you can, especially if you are a total beginner.

You will learn and develop:

- Basic strokes and techniques

- Common rhythms from the Middle East and their context in songs

- Rhythmical sense through embodied exercises and vocalizations

- Improvisation and short compositions

You will need to buy your own drum (buying options below), and have a metronome on your phone or computer (you can just google "Metronome" and use the one you find)

You can either book for 1 course or both.

END OF BOOKINGS 20st March at 8PM . If you decide to come after this deadline, contact me at elizabethnott23@gmail.com

You will need to set some time to practice between lessons. At least 15 minutes 3 times a week or 30 minutes 2 times a week.

Suggested economical drums you can buy online:
