Description
This is an opportunity for you to start your journey on Middle Eastern Percussion or if you want to progress on your skills. On 2 Saturdays, 2nd November and 7th December we have:
Beginners Frame Drum, Lap Style, (10:30AM to 12PM) and Beginners Darbuka from 1 to 2:30PM. We will go through the basics of tone, techniques and popular rhythms. Some body percussion and vocalisation exercises will help you embody beat, tempo, meter and rhythm.
Intermediate Frame Drum, Lap Style, (3 to 4:30PM) and Intermediate Darbuka (5 to 6:30PM). We will look at ways of creating your own "sentences" and rhythmic variations, rolls and odd rhythms.
Some drums available, please bring your own if you have one.
YOU CAN CHOSE TO COME ONLY ON THE 2ND NOV OR 7TH DEC, OR BOTH. IT IS UP TO YOU.
Venue in E17, near Blackhorse Road Station. Full address given when making the booking. A minimum of 3 people is needed to run each course.
About Elizabeth Nott:
Elizabeth has been teaching and performing Middle Eastern percussion for over 15 years. She studied Ethnomusicology at SOAS (2003-2006) and has performed with Maya Youssef, Ahmed Mukhtar, Amira Kheir, Tatcho Drom and many more. She holds a certificate in Drum Circle facilitation and has an approach to music teaching though the body and vocalizations as inspired by Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Sulkatu, Circle music and Body Percussion. www.elizabethnott.co.uk
