Connect RP Walking Conference
Join the Connect RP Community for an RP Morning of Rest & Play in the beautiful surrounds of Belmont Demense in Co. Wicklow
Our next Connect RP gathering on 13th September is a 'conference' with a difference - a restorative walk of Rest & Play surrounded by trees, birdsong and the Sugar Loaf Mountains surrounding Belmont Demesne, Bray Co. Wicklow, seeking to capture a 'restorative return to school'. Registration will start from 09.30 with the walk start from 10am - 1.30pm
Our intention is to gather the RP community in a way that allows us to live and embody RP not just talk about it. We wanted to offer something different, to gather and connect, to learn and laugh together in a nurturing space. Our 5k walk through the forest will offer opportunities to observe what nature has to teach us about relationships and our interconnectedness, to explore our own inner landscape, and to ‘walk’ through questions in community. There will be music, there will be laughing, there will be a hot cuppa with treats…. and yes, we said it, there will be sunshine ;-)!
Why not gather or create a team to share the nourishment of such a morning - your UBUNTU Team, leadership team, sports team, or group of pals/ colleagues/ siblings looking to share some Saturday sunshine and a deepening of connection with one other and all things restorative!
We have two amazing speakers who will begin and conclude our 5k walk in a beautiful walled garden, both offering us pathways to be restorative with ourselves.
- Dr Deirdre McGillicuddy will speak about ‘Resting and Restoring Self through Educaring from the Heart’
- Comedian, Al Porter, will share his insights on one of the principles of RP in Education ‘Accountability Exists in a Supportive Environment’
Introducing Our Charity Partners
100% proceeds from ticket sales will be shared equally between our two designated charities this year
- Build for the Boys -in aid of two boys, Conor and Dean who are living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare, progressive and fatal muscle-wasting condition. Our event will support the ‘Build for the Boys’ trust to create a house adapted to meet their growing needs.
- Pieta House - Pieta exists because of the needs of the people of Ireland. Pieta has been able to provide free counselling, therapy and support to these people in need. They have one common goal where no-one should feel so alone or so afraid that suicidal ideation or self-harming becomes an option they choose. This year we want to raise funds to support this service.
