Participants will examine various aspects of these primary & post primary curricula such as :
- Reviewing relational practices that promote connection & belonging.
- Examining a shared literacy around the restorative FRIENDS/RESPECT values.
- How to support the growth of empathy as a skill set.
- How to guide the development of emotional and conflict literacy skills.
- How to demonstrate key skills such as working with others, staying well, managing myself an communication with their students.
- Integrate the SPHE stands (Myself, Myself & others, Myself & the wider world) / ignite the indicators of wellbeing (responsible, connected, respected, resilient, aware).
Both programmes are about building positive relationships with others and even more importantly, with ourselves! We will spend the day looking at a new way to put this into practice using student relational connect in/outs, video lessons and a student journal. Participants will experience how the programme is shared through the video lessons that support these programmes. The teacher’s role is to facilitate the learning by following the video lessons provided, leading shares by following the modelled prompts provided; and most importantly, honouring, encouraging, and scaffolding their student engagement.
Participants will learn all about restorative practice through this guided facilitation day and review the programmes applicable to the school level with all planning provided and minimal preparation required!
