Join CATS and CHCP for the documentary screening of Block By Block, a powerful documentary that captures the struggle to bring a community college to Chinatown. Through firsthand accounts, historical footage, and community activism, the film tells the inspiring story of resilience, advocacy, and the fight for accessible education in an underserved neighborhood.
The screening will be at the San Jose History Park Empire Firehouse. History Park is located at the south end of Kelley Park at the corner of Senter Road and Phelan Avenue.
Following the screening, stay for an engaging Q&A session with Henry Der, Former Executive Director for Chinese for Affirmative Action and Joanne Low, Retired City College of San Francisco as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. Hear behind-the-scenes insights, discuss the impact of the college, and explore the ongoing fight for educational equity.
