At 6:30 p.m. the closing concert of the weekend will focus on the blues. All of Florence Price’s ‘Four Negro Folk Songs in Counterpoint’ will be heard alongside George Gershwin’s ‘Lullaby,’ with verse by Harlem renaissance poet Langston Hughes, read by actor Laura Zawarski. Haydn’s complete ‘Quartet in D, Op. 20 No. 4’ will accompany Zawarski’s reading of Virginia Woolf’s ‘The String Quartet,’ capturing concert goers’ experiences of a quartet concert, along with poems by Langston Hughes.
Come before for a wine and cheese pairing and talk-back with Geoffrey, Mikayla, and Laura at 4:30.
