Coorie Doon - 5th September Party at Civic House

Sat 5 Sep 2026 5:00 PM - 12:30 AM Civic House First Floor Studio, G4 9RH

Friends, hope you are well!

Thank you so much for joining us at our last outings, at Civic House back in May and last month in the Old Fruitmarket. We are really happy to be returning to the Civic House loft for another cosmic journey together. If this is your first time at Coorie Doon, welcome! Please read on for an insight into the dancefloor feelings and culture we strive for at our parties:

About Coorie Doon

Coorie Doon is a Glasgow dance party built on the uplifting power of music and the collective joy of the dance floor. We aim to capture the best of a house party experience, whilst being open to all. Our inspiration comes from the ethos of David Mancuso’s radical Loft party. To find out more about our party's values and origins head over to our website.

This is a party for anyone and everyone with a love of music and dancing, particularly those who don't feel at home in the usual commercial club setting – we hope our party offers something different. If you'd like to come along on your own or with friends and feel a bit unsure, get in contact and we'll make sure to introduce you to some folks in the Coorie Doon family.

We are a non-profit group and any proceeds from one party will be invested into making the next one even better. We also raise money for charities and local groups aligned with our values.

If you think you'd like to get involved in making the party happen, we're always open to new community members. Come say hi at the party or drop us an email. The more diverse and open folks involved the better party for everyone.

The venue

Our spiritual home is Civic House First floor Studio. With its open plan space, wooden floors and vaulted ceiling, the venue is ideal for hosting our Loft-inspired party and delivering excellent room acoustics and house party atmosphere. We truly believe there is no better space in Glasgow.

The sound

We’re incredibly lucky to work with Iain Mackie and Andrew Pirie to deliver the sound for our party. Iain is the Director of Danley Distribution and A-Live Sound, and has installed some of the best sound systems for venues and events around the world including We Out Here Festival. Andrew is a hi-fi expert at Loud and Clear, one of the UK’s leading home audio retailers, in addition to running the excellent disco reissue label, Groove Line Records. Perhaps most importantly, Iain and Andrew were close associates of the late David Mancuso and were involved with some of the parties hosted by Mancuso in Glasgow in the early 2000s. For many years they have worked together on the sound for the Lucky Cloud Sound System – ‘the London Loft’.

The music

What might you hear on the night? As broad a spectrum as possible. Dance music can often feel tied down by expectations and we want to promote a freedom to explore its potential in a party environment. Our main priority is to play uplifting music that gives energy and brings people together in both a welcoming and intense celebration. Rhythmic, hypnotic and psychedelic sounds are all essentials whether that’s deep spiritual jazz, ecstatic Gospel, house, disco, reggae, cumbia, psychedelic soul, afrobeat...

If you want a preview of the type of music you might hear you can listen back to recordings from our previous parties over on our Mixcloud.

The food & drink

For this party we are delighted to have MILK on board again who will be serving food in the downstairs space until 8pm. We're delighted to have MILK return to cater at our party for the second time, they will be providing a vegan curry bowl, along with sides.

Food will also be available to buy on the night until 8pm (or it runs out) but if you want to guarantee a plate then we strongly recommend buying a ‘party+food’ ticket. As always the wonderful and friendly team at Civic House will be running a bar.

We want the party to be a place for people to meet and get to know one another in and around the dancing so we open our doors early at 5pm.

Ticketing Info

Tickets are £14 for just the party, or £22 if you want to add a plate of food. Kids are welcome for free until 8pm (no tickets required!). We are also offering a number of free tickets for those who are unemployed or times are tight – please email us for more information.
