Supporting Early Permanence Carers with Uncertainty
Early permanence carers are made aware during training and preparation of the uncertainties involved in offering a fostering placement to babies and young children alongside the significant benefits for those children in developing a secure attachment to their carers from the earliest possible moment until the court has made a final decision. Agencies will offer support and guidance at each stage of the process being aware of the emotional impact of carers of the ups and downs they can experience during the process. In this session we will explore the different stresses and uncertainties for carers and how they can best be supported.
Speakers:
Hannah Moss, Adoption Manager with the Coram Ambitious for Adoption RAA, will reflect on practice experience of particular stress points in the early permanence referral and placement process
Kate Knowles, Team Manager with the Concurrent Planning Service will look at learning from experience on how to support carers where children return to the care of their parents or extended family members
The basic
membership fee is £200 pa, for one professional to attend all three
conferences. Additional annual membership places can be purchased at £150 per
additional member for the year. Alternatively, agencies may purchase additional
places for individual conferences for £50 per place.
