What is Taiko?

Taiko is Japanese ensemble drumming that combines powerful rhythms, movement, choreography and vocal calls to create an exciting and energetic group experience.

No previous experience is required. Due to the physical nature of Taiko, please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water.

Participants with restricted movement are very welcome to join. We encourage everyone to work at their own pace and listen to their body, and we aim to make sessions as accessible as possible. Adaptations can often be made where needed.

If a class has to be cancelled, we will offer an alternative session during half term and/or extend the course.

Want even MORE Taiko?

Participants are welcome to book both the Wednesday and Saturday programmes. We will be working on different material in each, giving you even more opportunities to develop your skills and prepare for our Hull showcase performance at Jubilee Central on Friday 27 November.

These classes are delivered by Humber Taiko (managed by Coritani Creative Ltd) in partnership with the NEL Music Hub.

Please note: Due to limited capacity, bookings are non-refundable and cannot be transferred.
