Hull Taiko – Saturday Project 2026

Join Humber Taiko for a special Saturday Taiko project this autumn. These three extended workshops take place from 10.30am–12.30pm at Hull ScrapStore, with an exciting opportunity to perform in our first ever Hull Taiko show at Jubilee Central on Friday 27th November (performance optional).

Suitable for adults and children aged 8+, these fun and energetic sessions will explore rhythm, movement and ensemble drumming in a welcoming and supportive environment.

We will be working on different material to the Wednesday evening classes, creating a unique performance piece especially for this project.

What is Taiko?

Taiko is Japanese ensemble drumming that combines powerful rhythms, movement, choreography and vocal calls to create an exciting and energetic group experience.

No previous experience is required. Due to the physical nature of Taiko, please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water.

Participants with restricted movement are very welcome to join. We encourage everyone to work at their own pace and listen to their body, and we aim to make sessions as accessible as possible. Adaptations can often be made where needed.

🎭 Optional Performance Opportunity

Participants will have the opportunity to perform as part of Humber Taiko's first ever Hull theatre show at Jubilee Central on Friday 27th November (performance is not compulsory).

If a workshop has to be cancelled, we will offer an alternative date wherever possible.

Participants are welcome to book both the Wednesday and Saturday programmes. We will be working on different material in each, giving you even more opportunities to develop your skills and prepare for our Hull showcase performance at Jubilee Central on Friday 27th November.

These classes are delivered by Humber Taiko (managed by Coritani Creative Ltd) in partnership with the NEL Music Hub.
