Private Sector Housing Enforcement after the Renters’ Rights Act – A Half Day Conference for Local Authorities
Private Sector Housing Enforcement after the Renters’ Rights Act – A Half Day Conference for Local Authorities
Share this event
The Renters’ Rights Act 2025 amends existing enforcement powers available to local housing authorities under the Housing Act 2004, including those applicable to HMOs and Part 3 houses. Importantly it also introduces entirely new enforcement duties and powers – via amendments to the Housing Act 1988 and the Protection from Eviction Act 1977 – which will significantly extend the scope of enforcement work in the sector.
Join us for this half-day conference which will cover all aspects of the new legislation, provide practical tips and suggestions, and offer guidance for local government navigating this transition. Topics will include:
- The new enforcement duties and powers under the RRA 2025
- Changes to the HA 2004 and what challenges to expect for licensing
- Adopting and applying effective housing enforcement policies
- Enforcement action on asylum seeker accommodation, hotels, and temporary accommodation
Cornerstone Barristers has a uniquely experienced team already dealing with all aspects of private sector housing enforcement. Drawing on the breadth of experience across our public, property, housing, and licensing teams, our members across all levels of Call frequently act for both local authorities and landlords, providing early strategic advice and appearing at all levels of courts and tribunals including the FTT, Upper Tribunal and beyond, and in criminal prosecutions.
