Cornish Lavender is delighted to be the new home for the Fairy Doors of Malabar and Coosebean in Truro on our new Lavender Fairy Trail thanks to John Rowe and his volunteers.
We are a private venue, with limited opening hours, and therefore need to control access in line with our other farm activities and events, to ensure public safety, but visitors can now appreciate the fairy houses without the risk of previous vandalism.
As a private venue, with limited parking, it has become necessary to control access, and car parking allocation spaces. Since opening the lavender fairy trail on weekends from Easter, we have learned a few things about making your visit as enjoyable as possible.
It is therefore ESSENTIAL to pre-book your parking, for which a nominal charge of £2 per car, for up to 2 hours is levied, with any excess monies accrued used for the maintenance of the Fairy Houses, the pathways and car park, and any promotional material or associated costs for the lavender fairy trail.
The car parking slots are available on Tuesdays & Thursdays, plus part of the weekend until the end of the summer school holidays, and then reverting to weekends until October half term. As the venue also holds private functions, we recommend you follow our social media pages for the most up to date information on opening hours, so that you are not disappointed when the site is closed for other functions.
There is no entry charge to the lavender fairy trail, but donations are welcome for the fairy door upkeep, and any associated costs.
Please note the following:
- We operate a no picnic policy - our summer cafe is open and caters for adults and children with healthy lunch and snack options alongside our signature Lavender Cream Teas and homemade cakes, drinks and icecreams from Callestick.
- The parking slot END time is imperative, regardless of your arrival time - as parking is limited.
- The car park is small and there is a steep drive entrance - if you have a choice - please do not bring vans onsite,
- At busy times, we may have to turn guests away until there is space to park safely, with priority given to those who have pre-booked parkiing.
- As a private venue, there are dates that we will be closed to general public viewing. These dates are listed below with reminders on Social Media
- Please do not walk on the lavender matting, or through the lavender plants, or allow your children to do so; the lavender is harvested to become our essential oil crop, that in turns makes our products. Photos are permitted in the designated photo area, and children are welcome to play in the lavender maze on the far side of the field.
The Fairies are also delighted when visitors bring gifts for the fairies or other visitors. There is a tooth fairy house in the Secret Garden, There is a Dummy or Pacifier tree at the front reception area to leave for the fairies which will be repurposed in the future.
However, in order to protect the wildlife, please do not leave sweets in the fairy houses (I have found a lolly covered in ants - that later disappeared - eeewww), plus a toddler who is Dairy Free couldn't eat the chocolate coins and chocolate eggs that were found.) Some visitors have dietary allergens, plus wildlife can be affected or vermin attracted which is not good for the farm eco-system.
We also discourage single use plastic, but our sustainability policy encourages re-using or recycling small toys, especially wooden ones, knitted or crochet items, painted or coloured stones, are all highly suitable items.
Thank you for your understanding.
