Artist bio
Rebecca Diele is a multidisciplinary artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Working across sculpture, installation and textile-based processes, her practice explores systems under pressure through repetition, structure and disruption. She develops grids, sequences and repeated gestures that transform through material intervention, allowing ordered structures to soften, deform and shift. Within these interruptions, states of strength and vulnerability are held in suspension, as materials move between control and release, resistance and yielding.

Diele holds a Master of Contemporary Arts from the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne, completed with High Distinction. Her background in fashion and textiles informs her sensitivity to structure, material and construction. She has exhibited throughout Australia and abroad, and undertaken residencies at George Paton Gallery and the Australian Tapestry Workshop, in Naarm/Melbourne.

In 2026, Diele was awarded the Lennox Artist Award at NotFair Art Fair, Melbourne, commenced representation with The Renshaws, Brisbane and Sydney, and was named a finalist for the 2026 MA Art Prize at Sydney Contemporary. Her finalist work, 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘎𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳, is presented by The Renshaws at Carriageworks, Sydney. A profile of her practice is forthcoming in 𝘍𝘪𝘣𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘶𝘮 in September 2026.
