Reform or Revolution? A talk with Stop the War Coalition’s Chris Nineham

Can our economic and political system be reformed incrementally or is the urgency of war, gross inequality and the climate crisis making some sort of revolution more likely or necessary?

Chris Nineham is a political activist, writer, a founder member of the Stop the War Coalition and Counterfire, and a veteran of organizing mass resistance on the street to pressurise Westminster.

From the 2003 national Iraq war protest, the largest political demonstration in UK history, through to the more recent Palestine marches, Chris has mobilised millions. His books include Capitalism and Class Consciousness: The Ideas of Georg Lukács, The People v. Tony Blair, How the Establishment Lost Control, The British State: A Warning, and Radical Chains: Why Class Matters.

Was Rosa Luxemburg’s correct in her 1899 work Social Reform or Revolution when she argued that capitalism is economically unsustainable and will eventually collapse, and that a revolution is necessary to transform capitalism into socialism?
